Payroll Accountant (Part Time)

About the Job

iZotope is seeking a dynamic and experienced payroll professional to join our team; reporting directly to the Controller. The Payroll Accountant performs all activities necessary to process the Company’s payroll, including maintaining related records, filing tax reports and voluntary deduction reports, processing involuntary deductions such as levies and garnishments, preparing accounting transactions and documents, documenting and updating procedures, and preparing special reports for management. The position will be solely responsible for all payroll, benefits and related activities. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintains payroll information by administering payroll and related systems; collecting, calculating, and entering payroll and benefits related data.
  • Updates payroll and benefits records by reviewing and approving changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job titles, and department/ division transfers.
  • Pays employees by directing the production and issuance of paychecks or electronic transfers to bank accounts.
  • Prepares reports by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
  • Determines payroll liabilities by approving the calculation of employee federal and state income and social security taxes, and employer's social security, unemployment, and workers compensation payments.
  • Balances the payroll accounts by resolving payroll discrepancies.
  • Provides payroll information by answering questions and requests.
  • Maintains payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying and applying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.
  • Maintains employee confidence and protects payroll operations by keeping information confidential.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.
  • Other duties as assigned, commensurate with the level and scope of the position.


  • Bachelors in Accounting or Finance required.
  • 6+ years related experience.
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now or similar payroll system, Tribe or similar HRIS, and QuickBooks Enterprise accounting software. Expertise in office productivity software (such as Excel, Powerpoint and Word).
  • Strong grasp of state and federal payroll taxes and related financial reporting.

This position is located in our corporate headquarters in Cambridge, MA.
